Development of my radio add

For my radio add I decided to ask Susan Jinxs to see if she would record my radio add. I made her read all the radio scrips I've done to see which out of the 3 I liked and over all I liked the 3rd script out of the rest.

I decided to ask her as she is a professional voice actor for radio add's, plus she is female which would appeal to my target demographic of upper middle classes.  I had to cut the third radio scrip out of the other two she did as she recoded all 3 scrips on one go. I had to use the tool ''Catch playhead'' to cut the track

From getting my recording I then went on the program Garage band to edit and add special effects to my add's. Some of the special effects I used where

  • Sweet Strummer 02.1- For the ambiance and backing music which I had loop all the way through the add however I choose this as it can be related to Durham as a motif to the people who play guitars in the Durham city centre.
  • Foyer_1.2- I needed a sound which sounded like there was a crowd of people and this seem to fit in nicely with the sound I wanted but also with the voice over from the recoding I did earlier.
  • I did have a third sound which was File folder but this just didn't really work that well as I wanted a sound which sounded like a magazine was being turned when the person said ''packed with art, theatre, food and cinema'' to mimic that she was flicking through the magazine at the time; reading out  the different heading in the magazine. So I recorded myself turing a magazine and placed that sound file in.
  • On the program it allowed me to change things like the sound of each sound file by using ''enable automation'' which let me place dots on the sound file which then let me play around with bring the sound higher and then gradually lower as the file plays. This help with making some of the sound effect fade out instead of the sound stopping suddenly; which overall sounded a lot better to the listener.
